No ban on Covishield: EU Envoy to India on ‘Green Pass’ plan
  • 3 years ago
Ambassador of the European Union to India and Bhutan Ugo Astuto on June 29 clarified that there is no ban on Covishield in European countries. “We have set up in place a new system of Digital Covid Certificate which is meant to facilitate travel within the European Union. Basically, this certificate is proof that a person is vaccinated or received a negative test or recovered from Covid-19. So this is meant as a facilitator but it is not a precondition for travel.” According to reports, travellers vaccinated with Covishield may not be eligible for the European Union's 'Green Pass'. Europe's vaccine passport programme, which allowed recipients to travel to and from Europe with fewer roadblocks, may not recognise recipients of the Covishield vaccine. Covishield is one of the three Covid-19 vaccines approved for use in India.
