Mamata Banerjee Targets West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar, Says, ‘He Is A Corrupt Man’
  • 3 years ago
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on June 28 alleged that governor Jagdeep Dhankar was named in a chargesheet in the 1996 Jain Hawala case. Mamata's remarks evoked a strong retort from the governor who said there was not an iota of truth in the chief minister's allegations and asked her to mention the chargesheet that named him. Speaking to reporters at the state secretariat, Mamata attacked Dhankar & said, “he is a corrupt man. He was named in the chargesheet in the 1996 Hawala Jain case. Why has the central government allowed a governor like this to continue?” Dhankhar described Banerjee's accusations against him as a \"knee-jerk reaction\" to his raising questions over the contents of the speech he is supposed to read out at the start of the upcoming assembly session, reported The Times Of India. The Trinamool Congress supremo also said she has written multiple letters to the Centre for the removal of Dhankhar. Watch the video to know more.
