once again, we conservatives find ourselves at a crossroads

Former Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan outlining the problems the GOP faces in the years ahead. Looking at the 2016 and 2020 electoral map- one thing is clear, Republicans have a messaging problem in big cities, but make no mistake they can still win big in rural areas. The GOP is recalibrating- but what ideas are emerging in the party?

Some within the party are keen to cut their ties to Donald Trump.

Voters looking for.Republican leaders want to see independence and metal. They will not be impressed by the sight of yes men and flatters flocking to Maralago.

However, others remain aligned to Donald Trump and his message. In navigating a path forward, it's clear they want to forget the events of January 6th.

Joe Lowndes
I think that Republican leadership is not concerned about the past, they're concerned about the future there there.I don't think that uh you know, that anybody in party leadership is terribly concerned about the events of January six, and I don't think that they are terribly concerned about the decertification efforts for the Electoral College.

Who are the emerging leaders of the GOP? What are the ideas they are espousing? A series of speakers at the Reagan library sheds light on some of the figures likely to emerge: Mike Pence, Nikki Haley and Mike Pompeo all making an address at the series that traditionally serves as a warm up act to the primaries.

For some of these speakers one tactic is to return to core Republican messaging, without getting embroiled in culture wars. Not a view shared by the entire caucus, but one some think will bring voters back into the fold.

Paul Ryan
They expected a center left unifier. The problem is he is focused on unifying not the nation, but the Democratic Party surrendering to its progressive base. It's not been six months and already the administration is working toward over $6 trillion dollars in new spending.

Different factions of the GOP are laying out their battle plan for the midterm elections- whether they can mobilize their ideas effectively will be seen in the months ahead.
