Vat Savitri is observed twice every year. Once this fast is observed on the new moon of Jyeshtha month, then in many places after fifteen days, Vat Savitri fast is also observed on the full moon day of Jyeshtha month. In many places of North India like Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Orissa, Vat Savitri fast is observed on the new moon day of Jyeshtha month, while in Maharashtra, Gujarat and southern Indian states this fast is observed on the full moon day of Jyeshtha month goes. This time Amavasya fast has been done and Vat Savitri fast of full moon date will be done on 24th June 2021 on Thursday. According to religious belief, Savitri's husband Satyavan got life gift under the tree of Vat, so in this fast the tree of Vat is worshiped and yarn is tied in it.

प्रत्येक वर्ष दो बार वट सावित्री का व्रत किया जाता है। एक बार ज्येष्ठ मास की अमावस्या को यह व्रत किया जाता है तो वहीं कई स्थानों पर इसके पंद्रह दिनों के बाद ज्येष्ठ मास की पूर्णिमा को भी वट सावित्री का व्रत किया जाता है। उत्तर भारत के कई स्थानों जैसे पंजाब, हरियाणा, दिल्ली, उत्तर प्रदेश, मध्य प्रदेश और उड़ीसा में वट सावित्री का व्रत ज्येष्ठ मास की अमावस्या तिथि को किया जाता है तो वहीं महाराष्ट्र, गुजरात और दक्षिणी भारतीय राज्यों यह व्रत ज्येष्ठ मास की पूर्णिमा को किया जाता है। इस बार अमावस्या का व्रत किया जा चुका है और पूर्णिमा तिथि का वट सावित्री व्रत 24 जून 2021 दिन बृहस्पतिवार को किया जाएगा। धार्मिक मान्यता के अनुसार वट के वृक्ष के नीचे ही सावित्री के पति सत्यवान को जीवनदान मिला था, इसलिए इस व्रत में वट के वृक्ष का पूजन किया जाता है और उसमें सूत बांधा जाता है। वीडियो में जानें वट पूर्णिमा 2021: वट पूर्णिमा पूजा सामग्री ।
