Yoga Day 2021: ‘Yoga Remains A Ray Of Hope As The World Fights Covid-19,’ Says PM Narendra Modi

Yoga became a source of inner strength among people amid the Covid-19 pandemic and inculcated faith in them that they could fight the virus, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on June 21. “Yoga shows us the road from stress to strength and from negativity to positivity," PM said as he addressed the nation on the occasion of the 7th International Yoga Day. "When Covid-19 emerged, no country was prepared. At this time yoga became a source of inner strength,” PM Modi, who was dressed in an orange kurta, said. People's enthusiasm for yoga has increased amid the pandemic, he said. Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports and Minister of the Ministry of Ayush Kiren Rijiju shared photos where he can be seen doing different asanas. On June 20, he announced the launch of 25 Fit India Yoga Centres. President Ram Nath Kovind performed yoga at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu performed Yoga in Delhi with his wife Usha. Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan also practiced yoga on International Yoga Day. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari performed Yoga in Nagpur. Meanwhile, On 7th International Day Of Yoga, the Himveers of ITBP practiced Yoga at the height of 18,000 feet in Ladakh. ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police) personnel of Animal Training School (ATS), Lohitpur performed yoga, with horses.
