Teams who play perfect in 1st 2 games rarely win tournaments - Low as Germany

Germany manager Joachim Loew spoke on Saturday after his side won their second Euro 2020 group stage match with 4-1 against Portugal.

Two own goals in the space of four minutes in the first half put Germany 2-1 up and Kai Havertz and newcomer Robin Gosens got the third and fourth goals.

Loew said such "a success boosts your confidence" and that they "must play every game like today".

Man-of-the-match Gosens only had his seventh cap for Germany, as until 2020 he had been undecided on who to represent, also having Dutch citizenship.

It has proven to be a good decision to call up the 26-year-old, who according to Loew, "has proven and established himself quickly within the team".
