8.5 km all weather hi-tech tunnel connecting Qazigund-Banihal is likely to open for public in a few days. The tunnel built at a cost of Rs 2,100 crores will keep Kashmir connected to the country throughout the year. Attached with an exhaust system to remove gas and bring in fresh air, it has around 124 jet fans, 234 CCTV modern cameras and a fire fighting system installed.
