As constant efforts are being made to douse the fire at Similipal Biosphere Reserve, the erstwhile royal family of Mayurbhanj has stepped in to lend a helping hand to the local communities tackle the menace. Rashmi Rajyalaxmi Bhanj Deo, the queen of the erstwhile royal family and her daughter princess Akshita, were seen dousing the raging fire at several places under Bangiriposi range in the Similipal reserve.
