As many as 30 passengers had a narrow escape when the bus in which they were travelling caught fire. The mishap occurred on NH-59 at Kanjamendi Square under Naugaon Police Limits of Kandhamal district today.

The bus was heading towards Bhanjanagar from Baliguda in the morning when the fire broke out inside the vehicle. It is suspected that the fire was triggered by a technical snag in the engine. Fortunately, a major mishap was averted as all the occupants of the bus managed to come out of the vehicle in the nick of time.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Manoj Pujahari said that there is no report of any injury to any passengers.
