RSP Gas Leak Mishap: SAIL Constitutes High-Level Committee For Inquiry | OTV News

The Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has constituted a 4-member high-level committee to probe the gas leak mishap at the Rourkela Steel Plant that took four lives.
The executive director of the Bokaro Steel Plant, Atanu Kumar Bhomika will lead the committee that will also include the general managers of Bhilai, Durgapur and Kolkata Steel plants. The team is expected to start the investigation either from today or tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the number of officials suspended in the gas leak mishap increased to three. CEO Dipak Chatraj suspended the Safety Department Assistant Manager, Shruti Ranjan Sahoo in connection with the matter. Prior to Sahoo, two other officials, G Barik and N Das were suspended.
Four employees of the Rourkela Steel Plant succumbed after inhaling toxic fumes that leaked at the Coal Chemical Department of the plant on Wednesday. These employees had been shifted to Ispat General Hospital (IGH) after their condition deteriorated. While two employees were declared brought-dead, two more succumbed during treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.
