Runa Khan Talks About Being a Woman Social Entrepreneur And Fighting Systemic Inequity in Bangladesh

"I am from a very privileged family", says Khan as she introduces herself. But Khan is one of those who have used their privilege to support the marginalised. To be a progressive woman in Bangladesh comes with its own problems, she explains, "Oh it must be her rich father, oh it must be her French husband, I keep hearing this till date," Khan adds.

Her NGO named Friendship describes itself as a "needs-driven non-governmental organisation that works in the Char islands and riverbanks of northern Bangladesh, the coastal belt in the south, and as of 2017, the Rohingya refugee camps in Ukhia, Cox's Bazar in the southeast."

Friendship works to empower people through a sustainable, integrated development approach.
