Due to the economic distress and restrictions enforced because of the pandemic, there is a discernible dip in the sale of sacrificial animals in Kashmir, this Eid.

The economy is going through a staggering low, quite visibly affecting the celebrations- with fewer costumers searching for sacrificial animals this Eid.

"Scrapping of article 370 and the subsequent Coronavirus Pandemic has hampered the sale of our animals. The sheep we used to sell for 30,000 (INR) a year ago, is not getting us even 20,000 this year. There is a stark difference this time, " said Showkat Ahmad one of the seller here in Eidgah area of Srinagar.
