PM Eco Advisor: GDP Could Fall Upto 9% This Year, Calls For Fiscal Stimulus Financed by Gold Amnesty
  • 3 years ago
In an interview to Karan Thapar for The Wire, Nilesh Shah said that India was “caught in a perfect storm”. He said never before in India’s independent history had the country faced three crises together – a medical crisis, an economic crisis and a financial crisis. However, Mr. Shah added that the country must pull out all stops to convert this crisis into an opportunity.

Asked by The Wire if Quarter 1 economic results could be worse than what has been announced because the unorganized sector has been under-estimated, Mr. Shah said: “We’re all grasping in the dark about the unorganized sector. This is an estimation.” Mr. Shah said it was very hard to tell whether the estimation was correct or an underestimation. He readily conceded that it could be an underestimation.
