In this video author and translator Rana Safvi recommends noted Urdu writer and satirist Fikr Taunsvi (Ram Lal Bhatia)’s partition memoir, The Sixth River (Chhata Darya), translated in English from original Urdu by academic and translator Maaz Bin Bilal. According to Safvi this a critical but rational account of the partition and resonates with today’s situation.
