Delhi Elections | AAP Will be Voted Back to Power Over Good Governance: MP Sanjay Singh
  • 3 years ago
Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha MP, Political Advisory Committee member and national spokesperson Sanjay Singh was one of the founder members of the party. He was also part of the Jan Lokpal movement and India Against Corruption campaign which led to its formation. In an interview with Gaurav Vivek Bhatnagar of The Wire, Singh speaks about how this time the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government in Delhi is presenting its five year report card to the people.
And he insists vote is being sought on that performance – in which the government made water and electricity-free, provided free bus travel to women, made education, healthcare, medical tests and treatment free. Also it said the government provided free medical care worth up to Rs 50 lakh to those injured in accidents. Singh said his government has also increased ex gratia for the next of kin of martyrs and compensation for damage of crop to farmers. Also, it introduced free pilgrimage schemes for the elderly. On the issue of CAA-NRC-NPR, he insisted that these have been brought to remove the focus from real issues -- GDP touching a low of around 4.5% annual growth, food and fuel prices rising alarmingly, NPAs rising to 10.5 lakh crore, slowdown in the automobile sector and the like. The country is going through an unprecedented crisis and to take the focus away such issues are being raised, he said.
