Srinath Raghavan is a military historian. In a lecture delivered to Manthan India, a public discussion forum in Hyderabad, he busts various myths around Article 370 and all other arguments being used to justify the move by the current dispensation. Drawing on the historical record, he says that contrary to the claims made by the present government, “Sardar Patel was actually the architect of Article 370”. He also goes on to explain that the continuous attack on Kashmir’s autonomy by various governments in the past is essentially the main cause of militancy in the state and the removal of Article 370 is only going to “exacerbate the problem.”
