NASA Says Indian ASAT Test Debris Could Threaten Space Station

On March 27, Prime Minister Modi announced that India had tested an anti-satellite weapon by firing a rocket at an Indian satellite in low-Earth Orbit. The Indian government was quick to assert that debris from the test would fall safely to Earth and not pose a threat in space. But this week, the head of the US space agency, NASA, said this was not true and that some of the pieces from the satellite India destroyed could threaten the International Space Station.
