The Celtics earned their first win of the series last night, defeating the Nets 125-119. Jayson Tatum led the way in the scoring column, dropping 50 points and leading all scorers. Marcus Smart chipped in with 23 points, while Tristan Thompson finished with a 19-point, 13-rebound double-double.
The Nets' big three of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden were responsible for 96 of the team's 119 points. Durant and Harden combined for 80 themselves. Irving struggled in his first game back at TD Garden with fans in the arena. He only had 16 points and did not shoot the ball efficiently at all.
Brooklyn had no answer for Tatum on the defensive end. He was getting to all of his spots and punished the Nets whenever they tried to switch. On a night where Kemba Walker struggled mightily, Tatum stepped up to the plate. it was a truly dominant performance from the young superstar.
