A new 'Saline Gargle RT-PCR' method of corona test has been introduced amid the increasing case of Mumbai corona epidemic. This will allow the investigation of corona infection to be detected in three hours. This method has been approved by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). Scientists from the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), Nagpur, under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), have achieved a new milestone. ICMR has given its approval to NEERI to send its teams to the lab for training in a new system across the country. According to the method, a patient is required to spit in a normal collection tube after gargling with saline solution. This sample is then transported to a lab in a collection tube. There it is kept at room temperature in a special buffer solution prepared by Neeri. When this solution is heated, an RNA template is prepared. The solution is further processed for reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR).
