Drone footage captured gushing hot lava bubbling from within a volcanic mountain and spewing out in a spectacular sight near Iceland's capital Reykjavik on Friday (May 21).

The eruption occurred near Fagradalsfjall, a mountain on the Reykjanes Peninsula, and was the first on the peninsula since the 12th century.

It began in March and is still emitting lava.

The sight was captured by filmmaker and YouTuber Jon Bear who has been documenting the activity for his YouTube channel.
