Born Without Limbs - Now I'm Marrying My Dream Man | LOVE DON'T JUDGE
  • 3 years ago
BEING limbless has not stopped Gabe Adams from accomplishing whatever he sets his mind to - including finding the man of his dreams. Gabe, 22, from Utah, was born without arms and legs due to a rare genetic condition known as Hanhart syndrome. The motivational speaker was adopted from Brazil as a baby by a Mormon family and his religious upbringing meant that he remained in the closet about his sexuality until he was 19. Gabe said: “Growing up being Mormon and being gay was really, really hard because my dad was really big in the LDS church and a seminary teacher and it was a huge no-no to be gay.” Gabe had relationships with men but says frequently they were driven by their curiosity about dating a limbless person or actively abusive. After having been dumped by a boyfriend who said he was “ashamed” of Gabe, he was ready to give up the dating scene - until he met Adam in February 2020. Gabe turned down Adam’s first request that they become a couple, until Gabe’s mother convinced him that they should date. He quickly realised that Adam was 'the one' and the pair are due to tie the knot this June. The couple are now looking forward to spending their lives together. Gabe said: “I think the dynamic of Adam and I’s relationship is funny, I like to say that I run the mouth and he runs the limbs, and that’s what keeps us going because I’m really feisty. For me to have a guy who loves me unconditionally and doesn’t hold back and just holds me accountable and loves me the way I should be and treats me the way I deserve - that’s everything.”
