However, the end of the month of Ramadan and the exact date of Eid-ul-Fitr depends on the sighting of the Crescent Moon. In most countries including India, there is a high-powered committee of clerics who decide the day of Eid ul Fitr. In India, the sighting of the Crescent Moon is announced by the Riyat-e-Hilal Committee.
