Meals to Out-of-Work Musicians.
The COVID-19 pandemic has
drastically affected the live music industry.
According to the Country Music Association (CMA),
hundreds of thousands of musicians, roadies and
touring industry professionals have lost work.
In response to the crisis, the
trade organization’s foundation has partnered
with Feeding America to provide four million
meals to out-of-work musicians. .
The food distribution will be centered in cities with
large populations of music industry professionals. .
Among those helping the CMA’s initiative
is country star Blake Shelton. .
In an interview with The Associated Press, Shelton said
he “[couldn’t] live with” people going to bed hungry. .
There are a lot of people struggling in
our country, and COVID has only made
that worse … People are going to bed
hungry at night now more than ever,
and I just can’t live with that. I’ve been
passionate for a long time about
helping folks get the food they need, Blake Shelton, to The Associated Press.
Shelton also told The Associated Press that the
best way for people to support their “favorite artists”
is to attend shows once it is safe to do so. .
The world is starting to open up
again, and tours and shows are being
announced daily. So go support your
favorite artists, bands, orchestras,
theaters. Of course, do it safely,
but let’s have some fun again!, Blake Shelton, to The Associated Press
