Camels are two species of even-toed animals of the genus Camelus (one single hump - Camelus dromedarius, the other double hump - Camelus bactrianus) that live found in arid regions and deserts in Asia and North Africa. The average life expectancy of a camel is between 30 and 50 years.

The domestication of camels by humans began approximately 5,000 years ago. The use of camels includes milk (which has a higher nutritional value than cow's milk) and meat and is also used as a working animal.
