Patients wait for hours to get oxygen beds in Dhanbad amid shortage

The oxygen crisis continues in Jharkhand. Covid-19 patients are finding it difficult to get beds even as all ICU beds at government and private hospitals have already filled up. 

There is chaos due to lack of oxygen at Ranchi Sadar Hospital and in Patliputra hospital, Dhanbad. A patient's family created a ruckus due to a lack of oxygen, following which, the critically ill patients were provided oxygen in a hurry. Families of 25 to 30 patients claimed they waited for the oxygen cylinder for hours.

India on Friday recorded a new high of 4,14,188 new Covid-19 cases, taking the caseload to 2,14,91,598, according to the Union Health Ministry, amid growing calls from several quarters for a national lockdown.

The Union health ministry numbers showed 3,915 deaths were reported in the past 24 hours, taking the overall toll to 2,34,083. However, 1,76,12,351 Covid-19 patients have recovered, with India's active caseload at 36,45,164.
