How Sunspots form animation

When the magnetic field lines reach the surface plasma can become trapped and unable to fall down as quickly. This allows the plasma to cool forming a sunspot. If the magnetic field lines become tangled or connect Solar flares and CME's ( coronal mass ejections) can result.
