Jayson Tatum Reacts to tying Larry Bird Record with FRANCHISE RECORD 60 Points

Jayson Tatum was interviewed postgame after scoring 60 points in a comeback win vs the San Antonio Spurs. He led the Celtics to the win and tied Larry Bird’s franchise record in the process.
Tatum was asked about how he felt after the game. His teammates showered him with water in the locker room after the game, but he decided to shout out teammate Aaron Nesmith. “I think the best part was obviously coming back and winning,” he said. “Aaron came in and played unbelievable tonight… I just think that kinda shows the growth of our team… figuring out a way to win the game.”
He spoke about his relationship with his dad, and how being pushed so hard when he was younger may have helped him become the player he is today. “His tactics were extreme sometimes… he for sure pushed me when I was younger… we’ve had some rocky times,” Tatum stated. “Even before tonight just to hear him tell me he’s proud of me it means a lot just cause he never expressed that when I was younger… that was just his way of telling me I could do more, I could be better… I wouldn’t be here without him.”
Lastly, Tatum was asked about how it felt to break the record with his son, Deuce, in the building.He referenced a few weeks ago when he said he would have to put up a big game with Duece there, as he was not at the game when he set his then career-high with 54 points vs the Timberwolves. “Jokingly I said just means I’ll have to do it again when he’s there,” said Tatum. “[This game was] something I’ll never forget and we’ll be able to talk about as he gets older.”
