Soli Sorabjee, Former Attorney General, Dies At 91 After Contracting COVID-19

Former Attorney General Soli Sorabjee, one of India's finest legal minds, died of Covid-19 on April 30. A senior lawyer & Padma Vibhushan recipient, Soli Sorabjee was being treated at a private hospital in Delhi. Chief Justice of India NV Ramana paid tribute to Soli Sorabjee as his court assembled on April 30 morning. “Sad news. One of our legal luminaries and human rights activists, Soli Sorabjee, passed away. May his soul rest in peace,” said Chief Justice of India. Sorabjee became Attorney General first in 1989 and then from 1998 to 2004. Prime Minister Narendra Modi described Sorabjee as an outstanding lawyer and intellectual. President of India Ram Nath Kovind said, “We lost an icon of India's legal system.” Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal wrote, “Soli Sorabjee a friend, mentor & an institution in himself.” Watch the video to know more.
