Marcus Smart Suspended by NBA | Celtics vs Hornets
  • 3 years ago
Brad Stevens was interviewed pregame before the Celtics’ matchup vs the Charlotte Hornets on April 28. Right before his interview, Coach Stevens received news that Marcus Smart was suspended for one game for language directed at an official.
“I got word about 15 minutes ago,” said Stevens when asked about the suspension. Shama Charania of the Athletic reported on the incident less than 15 minutes before the press conference. “I’m not really completely aware of what happened.”
Stevens did go on to say he knew about the incident to some degree, but was unaware of the significance of it. “I did hear there were words exchanged after the game,” he said. “I thought after once we got past a certain time this afternoon” the team would be in the clear. When asked if a suspension this late into the say is unusual he said, “I don’t know… I don’t wanna get into it.”
Lastly, he was asked about the point guard rotation tonight. With Smart suspended, both he and Kemba Walker will not be available to play. “We’re going to have to do point guard by committee tonight,” said Stevens.
