As the state of New York officially legalizes recreational marijuana, local companies producing CBD products hope the new market will offer growth opportunities. Family-run business Empire Standard, which produces and sells oils, salves, smokes, gummies and drinks containing CBD, plans to increase its workforce to more than 100 employees from 15 and invest in a large cannabis cultivation facility.
