Over 70,000 African studies lost in fire
Decades of work by the University of Cape Town’s Special Collections Team has been reduced to ashes, by the flames that engulfed the Jagger Reading Room. It housed thousands of African Studies prints, films and other rare documents. The university is currently in the process of developing a digital preservation system. Unfortunately, though, not everything had been scanned. Professor Pitika Ntuli, discusses this. Courtesy #DStv403
