Kemba Walker was interviewed postgame after the Celtics’ 99-86 win vs the Phoenix Suns. He led the team in scoring with 32 points and was the main reason the C’s were able to get the win in this one. The first question of his press conference was about the passing of Terrence Clarke and his relationship with him, and Walker was emotional in his response. “He was a very, very good kid… always smiling, always energetic… my condolences to his family… that’s really tough news to hear…I don’t even know what to say…kind of mind boggling to hear.” On Walker’s stellar night against the Suns, the star guard said “I was just taking the shots available to me… we played so hard. Smarty played a great game…his impact is second to none… JT played a great game…I thought he did a great jobs of doing other things...it was just a great team win.”
On his health and status, Walker said “I'm feeling good.. Obviously some days are going to be better than others… I'm feeling great… it’s all about the upkeep… I feel really good.” When asked if the maintenance days and resting schedule was helping him, he said “I guess so man… it gives me extra days… in between those days I’m doing nothing but recovering… helps a lot.” Despite his role changing and feeling out how he fits among the Jays development, Walker said “You gotta stay ready, stay confident, and just trust in my work… whenever my opportunity comes I’m just trying to take advantage of it as best as I can… just want to continue to play well, just want to win.”
