Ground Report: Bengal's newest voters wait for right to live
  • 3 years ago
Dinhata in the Cooch Behar district of North Bengal is now home to some of India's newest citizens, the former enclave-dwellers. They got voting rights in August 2015 when India and Bangladesh exchanged enclaves. But life in the settlements in Cooch Behar's Dinhata is far from what the enclave-dwellers hoped for when they agreed to become Indian citizens.

India Today visits the Chhitmahal Rehabilitation Centre in Dinhata a day before the constituency goes to polls. No political party has reached them this poll season. Here is an exclusive ground report.
