Tristan Thompson was interviewed postgame following the Celtics’ 101-99 win over the New York Knicks. He made a big-time impact in his return back after not playing since March 14th. Thompson spoke about how much COVID has affected him.
"That s*** was no joke. I'm going to get the vaccine as soon as I can,” said Thompson. He said that it felt good to be back. He said that he “had a bit of all the symptoms,” but luckily didn’t end up losing his sense of taste or smell.
He also talked about his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers and how they always remained focused on the playoffs. "I think winning a bunch of games in the regular season is a bunch of horses***,” said Thompson. He talked about how the Cavs were always able to take down higher seeds in the playoffs regardless of seeding. Thompson said that matchups and being healthy are the most important things. "Being healthy for the playoffs is what matters to me."
Thompson commented on teammates Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown as well. He said that the two are going through the growing pains of their expanded roles this season. "If it were easy, we'd have a lot more superstars in this league,” he said. Thompson also emphasized the fact that he and Kemba Walker will have to help them be the best they can be. Tristan Thompson didn't hesitate to call out the rumors about him being a bad teammate either, calling out Kevin O'Connor by name and saying "I have the memory of an elephant."
