Najib Abdul Razak has decried his political persecution after being served with a bankruptcy notice by the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) over the RM1.7 billion taxes it sought from him.

The former prime minister vowed to fight back against the government's move.

"I will not bow to individuals who abused the law to oppress me on a political basis and greed to cling on to power."
