The Kumbh Mela formally began in Haridwar on April 1 with several restrictions imposed on devotees coming to attend the event amid rising cases of Covid-19 in various states including Uttarakhand. It is for the first time in the history of the grand religious congregation held on the banks of the Ganga in Haridwar once in 12 years that its duration has been curtailed to just one month due to the pandemic.

देश में कोरोना वायरस ने एक बार फिर रफ्तार पकड़ ली है. वहीं हरिद्वार में जारी कुंभ मेला अपने परवान पर है, ऐसे में अब सरकार की ओर से हरिद्वार के सभी 72 गंगा घाटों पर रैंडम कोरोना टेस्ट होगा, जिसमें 14 और प्राइवेट लैब की मदद ली जाएगी। दरअसल, कुंभ मेले में कोरोना संक्रमण फैलने का डर है, श्रद्धालुओं की भारी भीड़ को देखते हुए यहां कोविड-19 की दूसरी लहर का अब खतरा मंडराने लगा है। इसे रोकने के लिए अभी स्टेट बॉर्डर और मेला इलाके के कई स्थानों पर श्रद्धालुओं का रैंडम टेस्ट किया जा रहा है।
