The arch bottom of world’s highest railway bridge over Chenab River in Jammu & Kashmir’s Reasi has been completed. “At present, it takes 12 hours via road (Katra-Banihal), but after completion of the bridge, distance via train would be halved. Completion expected in 2 years”, said Ashutosh Gangal, General Manager of Northern Railway. Interestingly, the railway bridge which is 1.3 km long and built at a height of 359 metres above the river, is taller than Eiffel tower.
