22 soldiers were martyred in a Naxalite encounter in Bijapur on Sunday. Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Jagdalpur today to pay homage to the martyrs. Earlier security forces were informed that Hidma, the top Naxalite commander, is present at the Bijapur-Sukma border. On April 3, the joint anti-Naxal team of DRG, STF, COBRA and CRPF started the operation. But it seems that Naxalites were received the information of operation before the special team reached there.
