Why Didn't the Celtics Sign Isaiah Thomas?
Brad Stevens had his pregame interview before the Celtics took on the Rockets, and spoke on the status of multiple players including Romeo Langford, Tristan Thompson and Semi Ojeyele. In Brad’s opinion, Langford’s season debut is sooner rather than later, and said “I think we’re days, not weeks away” with Langford ramping up conditioning slowly but surely. Tristan Thompson was also back at the facility for the first time in weeks due to his COVID symptoms, and he will be ramping up activity for a return as well.
Brad Stevens also offered an update on Semi Ojeleye, who may be returning later next week after suffering a hip contusion on March 24th. Coach Stevens also voiced his support and credited Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum for never shirking the leadership responsibility and being open and receptive in order to improve.
When asked about Isaiah Thomas and his 10-day contract with the Pelicans, Coach Stevens said he reached out as soon as he heard the news to congratulate the former Celtic. Stevens also thought back fondly on teams of the past, especially with Boston slated to go against former Celtics Kelly Olynyk and Avery Bradley, both of whom where teammates of Isaiah Thomas.
