BMC to release asymptomatic Covid patients to ensure beds for needy

After Mumbai reeled under shortage of beds in private hospitals over the weekend, BMC on Monday reiterated its policy on managing hospital beds for Covid patients.

The civic body said, 80% of the total Covid beds and 100% of ICU beds in private hospitals will be allotted by BMC.

Allotment of hospital beds will be done at ward-level by Ward War Rooms (WWR). “It is observed that, in spite of the orders, patients are being admitted directly by the hospital without intimation to WWRs,” said the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.
