Matt Moore reported the Celtics and Magic working on a larger trade for Aaron Gordon where he and Evan Fournier would go to Boston while Orlando would acquire Marcus Smart and two first round picks. The picks have been offered, Moore said on this week's Celtics Beat, but he argues that Danny Ainge should NOT trade Smart because he is a tone setter for the franchise. The Celtics are frontrunners to land Gordon and have pursued him for years, various reports say, though there's uncertainty about his consistency and shot. If Smart is untouchable, Moore explored other ways the Celtics could acquire Gordon as a young wing for the future and the other competition like the Nuggets, Trailblazers, Rockets and Timberwolves who have shown interest on Gordon.
