Slams Jeff Bezos
for Countering Amazon
On March 17, Sen. Bernie Sanders
spoke out against Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk
at a Senate Budget Committee hearing. .
According to Sanders, the two men own
“more wealth than the bottom 40%.”.
He then directed his
attention specifically to Bezos,
who declined to testify
at the hearing. .
Sanders questioned why a man
“worth $182 billion” was doing “everything in [his] power”
to stop Amazon unionization efforts. .
One hundred eighty-two billion dollars,
you're the wealthiest person in the world.
Why are you doing everything in your
power to stop your workers in Bessemer,
Alabama, from joining a union?, Bernie Sanders, via 'Business Insider'.
Sanders went on to point out the disparity
between Bezos and his workers.
Jeff Bezos has become $77 billion richer
during this horrific pandemic, while
denying hundreds of thousands of workers
who work at Amazon paid sick leave, Bernie Sanders, via 'Business Insider'.
An Amazon fulfillment center in Bessemer, Alabama,
has been at the center of the high-profile union dispute.
Bessemer workers, who have been voting
on unionization since early February, will have their
ballots counted starting March 30. .
If successful, it will be the first time Amazon workers
have formed a union in the United States.
