This 15 Chapter Republic Picture serial starred Ralph Byrd as Dick Tracy. DickTracy faces off against The Spider and his Spider Ring. This production had one of the larger budgets for serials featuring a very popular comic character of the day. Due to an interpretation of the contract, this would be the only serial creator Chester Gould would be paid the rights for. There were a few changes from the comic most notably Tracy being located in San Fransisco instead of the Midwest. Also, Tess Truehart's character became Gwen Andrews.
