The discussion of bringing the prices of petrol and diesel within the ambit of GST has been arising for the last several years. The ministers of the government have also given a statement regarding this. The government says that its final decision will be taken by the GST Council. But now Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has made it clear that as of now there is no proposal to bring crude petroleum, petrol diesel, aviation turbine fuel and natural gas under the purview of GST.

पेट्रोल-डीजल की कीमतों को जीएसटी के दायरे में लाने की चर्चा पिछले कई सालों से उठ रही है. सरकार के मंत्रियों ने इसको लेकर बयान भी दिया है. सरकार का कहना है कि इसका अंतिम फैसला जीएसटी काउंसिल ही करेगी. लेकिन अब वित्तमंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण ने साफ कर दिया है कि अभी क्रूड पेट्रोलियम, पेट्रोल डीजल, एविएशन टर्बाइन फ्यूल और नैचुरल गैस को जीएसटी के दायरे लाने का कोई प्रस्ताव नहीं है.
