What is a BIN -Bank Identification Number

BIN - 'bank identification number'. It is used to identify the issuing bank. In English-speaking countries it is called PAN (Primary Account Number).

These are the first 6 digits of the card number, they are unique and help identify the issuing bank at clearing, processing or authorization.

You can also find out the country of issue, the card type and the payment system. It is regulated by ISO/IEC 7812-1 format (according to SWIFT).
