Female artists comprise less than 4% auction sales

A world-first international study has found that works produced by female artists comprise less than 4% of auction sales, despite a near equal share of women and men following degrees in fine arts. The research also found that women are excluded from the top end of the value of art sold at auction. Dr Marina Gertsberg, co-author of the study from Monash Business School, explains the findings.
