Myanmar junta accuses Suu Kyi of accepting payments of US$600,000, plus gold

A spokesman from Myanmar junta on Thursday claimed that ousted leader Aung San Suu Kyi had accepted illegal payments worth US$600,000 plus gold while in government.

He said the information had been verified and many people were being questioned in the probe.

The junta promised that an election would be held after investigations are completed. The military has said that its reason behind its coup in Feb 1 is election fraud in the previous government.
