Nodeep Kaur Attacked By Alleged ABVP Members As Labour Rights Activist Spoke At Women's Day Event On March 8
  • 3 years ago
ABVP activists disrupted a Women’s Day event outside Delhi University’s arts faculty on March 8. They allegedly roughed up some of those present. One of the scheduled speakers at the street-corner event was the recently released labour activist Nodeep Kaur. Nodeep, a Dalit woman who was also part of the farmers’ agitation, was freed on bail recently after 44 days in Haryana’s Karnal jail. The March 8 event was held by the Bhagat Singh Chhatra Ekta Manch, a far-Left student group headed by Nodeep’s sister Rajveer Kaur, a PhD scholar of Punjabi at Delhi University. ABVP-led Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) said in a statement that men present at the event had “attacked” its joint secretary (Shivangi Kharwal). Members of the Manch & CPM student arm SFI were briefly detained at the Maurice Nagar police station. Watch the video to know more.
