The number of European air passengers in 2020 is at the lowest level since 1995

Passenger traffic at airports in Austria, the Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Slovenia, and Slovakia dropped by more than 90 % in Q4, with losses of more than 85% in the UK and Germany.

London Heathrow, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Amsterdam Schiphol, and Frankfurt were all displaced in 2020 by four of Europe's five main airport hubs in 2019. By the end of 2020, Istanbul, which jumped from fifth to fourth, had become the busiest European airport.
