Congress leader Kapil Sibal on February 10, during a discussion on the budget in the Rajya Sabha, accused the government of indulging in vote bank politics by awarding big infrastructure projects to poll-bound states - Assam, West Bengal, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. “86% of farmers own less than five acres of land. Are they Atmanirbhar? Is that why they are protesting peacefully at Delhi’s borders? You have to answer,” Sibal said. “You have been in power for six years. No more excuses. Your report card will be looked into,” he said. Meanwhile, Congress. Member of Parliament Shashi Tharoor targeted the centre over this year\'s Union budget allocations in the areas of health, agriculture, defence & fiscal stimulus. Invoking Lal Bahadur Shastri’s words the Congress MP said the budget is neither meant for the Jawan nor for the Kisan. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will speak in Parliament on February 11 during the Union Budget discussion in Lok Sabha.
